In anticipation of her new song ‘Snakes and Ladders’, Lucy Crisp—a dreamy pop singer-songwriter from the UK that CRASH has previously featured on our small disabled artist recommendation posts—gave us the honor of listening to an early press release of the track and answering some questions about life as an artist with chronic illness, her upcoming music, and more!
Lucy Crisp (she/her) is a singer-songwriter from the UK who makes moody and magical pop music to fuel your soul, exploring life and what it’s like to walk the tightrope of following your dreams while living as an artist with chronic illness and hidden disabilities.
The CRASH crew was given the honor of listening to an early release of Lucy’s new single ‘Snakes and Ladders‘ before it officially drops on March 27th and we are so excited to share our thoughts with you!
This track is a clear dance-pop anthem for fans of MUNA and Lorde, with an almost nostalgic 80s touch reminiscent of Kate Bush. True to its reference of the classic board game, ‘Snakes and Ladders‘ embraces the unpredictable roll of the dice we experience in life, the climb to the top, and the moments we may stumble, slide, or fall along the way.
We hear a newfound level of confidence in Lucy’s lyricism, backed by beautifully layered vocals wrapped in synthy melodies and an electric beat drop that is 100% club worthy.
‘Snakes and Ladders‘ is the perfect unapologetic pick-me-up for those of us who sometimes just need the reminder to trust ourselves through the chaos.
We know this song is sure to earn Lucy Crisp her flowers, so don’t forget to presave and check out ‘Snakes and Ladders’ on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube when it releases on March 27th!

PRESAVE ‘SNAKES AND LADDERS’ HERE:
Lucy was also kind enough to answer a few questions about her new track, her writing process, and what we can look forward to seeing from her in 2026!
LEVI: What ‘Snakes and Ladders‘ lyric is your favorite?
Lucy Crisp: Favourite lyric from the song has to be “I see stars they’re calling my name”. I feel like it’s such a perfect introduction into the song and it gives that confident side of me that knows what I want and that everyone sees my potential!
LEVI: In what ways do you feel you’ve adapted your writing or production process to accommodate your disabilities?
LC: This is such a good question as it’s not something I usually think about in detail! Because of my breathing though, subconsciously I do think about the melody more and how fit I am to say a whole lyric and the amount of time in between each lyric that I have to breathe. Especially with having Cystic Fibrosis, breath control is a big thing I do focus on when performing live, and I want to be sure that not only I’m able to sing the lyrics but my fans are able to join in as well and sing along!
LEVI: Any teases for future projects or goals for the year? Maybe more singles or an EP?
LC: We do have more songs on the way this year and it’s only getting started with this bop! The songs still yet to be released will explore different sides of my personality, as well as my hopes and fears!
